The Healthiest Kind of Competition πΉ
I love exploring the word 'competition' when I'm coaching others professionally... When you meet someone doing similar work as you, does it inspire worry? Fear? Excitement? FOMO? Arrogance? Comparison? Pressure? Inspiration? Motivation?
The original roots of 'competition' meant something very different than our modern notion of our competitors, and - to me - the old school Latin version rings truer to the healthiest kind of competition today:
βTo Strive Together.β βTo coincide.β βTo be capable of.β
I hold space for a Mastermind group every month of wonderful, experienced, talented healing artists, coaches and guides who are all essentially in the same broad field. One might say, βThey are competitors! - Wouldn't they worry to share their projects and subject themselves to copy-catting, or fear showing vulnerability after a deep failure or great success?"
Nope! Instead I see the opposite: one person's success raises the bar for everyone else , someone's momentum is contagious and inspires action in everyone else, and each person who shows up to a call that week with self-accountability to share what they've created inspires everyone else to get after it & create boldly as well.
More simply, when we show up and surround ourselves with excellence, we get our sh*t together in rapid fashion. π₯
Without fail, the day preceding and following every mastermind call, I see a flurry action - brand shiny new sales pages: done! βοΈ Finessing the product suite: done! βοΈ Refining your offer-branding: done! βοΈ
...All kinds of meaningful creation and clear action that is all beautifully UNIQUE to each individual. This is the magic of professional masterminding and the healthiest form of competition: being beside colleagues you respect and admire, and providing continuous momentum as you Strive Together... not against - but beside - each other. π
